Gobble, Gobble...
Our Thanksgiving break was preceded by the dreaded flu bug...but before I go there...(working backwards...)
Thanksgiving day, (despite having smaller appetites)...we were able to gather with family, the Elders & friends...have a yummy meal (big THANKS to Mike's mom for preparing all of it) ...play a few games...scope out Black Friday ads...move furniture around...
Before that, Wednesday was all about napping, TV, napping, and not eating (even Kiera & Mikenna)...because the previous night...
10:30 pm...baby monitor...we hear the dreaded sounds of someone throwing-up...rush upstairs expecting it to be Kaylee...and it's Kassidy-still asleep-all over herself, bed & Kiera below! ICK!! A few hours later, I decide to follow...
Earlier...we're home, Kaylee is achy and crying...Kassi asks, "Why is Kaylee crying?" "Because her tummy doesn't feel good." Kassi, "My tummy doesn't feel good either." (We're thinking she's having sympathy pains.)
That afternoon~(...and this is where the flu begins...) Kaylee was already showing signs of not feeling well...she came home from school and crashed for a few hours, saying she was cold and a little achy (I'm wondering if it's her HSP or flu). I personally didn't feel like heading out to a buffet...unknowingly "ill"...I chalked it up to feeling stuffed from previous weeks of eating and not looking forward to the stuffed feeling after a Thanksgiving meal...
However, being Joe's birthday (Tuesday the 20th,) we gathered at Granny's Buffet...
And, because many stores offered deals on turkeys...and being that chickens were $1/lb...we cooked up a turkey on the 18th...tried keeping it a light meal...freezing all leftover meat...
A few weeks ago...living close to family (and some were headed out of town), we had a pre-Thanksgiving dinner on the 11th~yummy ribs, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie, lemon meringue, brownies, strawberry pretzel salad...
Finally...seems like the whole "eating" season begins about Halloween. I've heard & read on friend's blogs (as well as those I lurk too) that most people throw away candy after a few days...but not being as well disciplined...
Maybe next year we'll throw out the extra candy...
