Chan Family Reunion Pics...

So, I just realized that my sis posted pics in seperate "postings", so if you only click on the 3 links I had, you won't see all of the pics...best to just surf over to her blog, click on May 2007 on the blog archive links...and wa-lah!!

Sick kiddos

Image
Mikenna, Kiera, Kassidy, Kaylee, Brooklyn So, this could be blessing #2...all 4 kids sick at the same time!! Actually Mikenna, Kassidy & Kiera started running fevers yesterday & then through the night and a bit today as well. Kaylee was feeling left out, so we let her camp out in our room with the others last night. Then she came home from school today, plopped down in the recliner and said, "I don't feel well." So, this was the scene around the room during piano lessons today. My house is very quiet :)

Chan Family Reunion

FUN FUN FUN!!! We had gobs of FUN this past Memorial Day Weekend for our David Chan Family Reunion at the Ensign Ranch in Cle Elum, WA. I didn't take any pics, but my sister-- Julia posted a lot of what she took, plus she included the link where she uploaded all of the photos she had taken. And, because of her great sense of humor, I'll let you read what she posted about the weekend here , and here and here ...in case you get lost in the links...it's basically what she posted for May 30, 2007. I guess if you don't want to jump over to her blog, which you should because that's where the pics are...here are some "highlights" of her highlights... 6. Hmmm... I really can't remember what specific things we did each day. Tim had a blast paintballing with all the other guys. Together, we played lots of family relays, had many Sudoku races, fed horses, played volleyball (or at least TRIED), launched and chased bottle rockets, went fishing, bike riding, playi

Happy news!!

My cousin Juli said something about maybe good things coming in threes... so, here is #1: friends in the ward, who were living in a rental, just bought a home--in the ward and close by!! (Why does it seem that when someone moves out of the ward, or neighborhood, that you'll never see them again?) Which means...they'll be able to do preschool next year--hang out at activities together--etc. etc. BTW: the home they bought is on the same street as the home Mike and I used to own, (or still do, but not really...)...so, maybe we'll kick the renters out and move back in!?! oh, #2 & #3 have yet to happen...I just wanted to report #1

Vocab...

...just thought I'd let you in on some of Mikenna's new words she has picked up this past month: slide, outside, swing, hey guys-gummies, where are you, poo-poo...stuck, toot toot, airplane! bye guys

My sweet Kiera...

...came and asked me tonight, "Mom, what can I do to help get dinner ready?" I love her.

Becoming cultured...

...it amazes me how quiet (well mostly quiet) the girls can be, especially when music or dancing is involved. We took the girls to my dad's Columbia Chorale Concert yesterday (which lasted 1 1/2 hrs), sat on the second row and they did a pretty good job of not bothering others around us. Well, there was once when Kiera whispered loudly to Kassidy, "I see Papa!! Right there!" and Kassidy whispered loudly back, "Yeah!! I see his glasses!!" A few weeks ago, Michael's parents took the girls to an opera type thing. (A local, LDS tenor was the "star" (he's received many recognitions and has sung in Europe...or something...not sure...). Anyhow, I was worried that Grandma would be walking the halls with the girls, but Glenna said they were great listeners!! In June, I'll be taking them to see my cousins ballet, Little Mermaid...I know they'll really be enthralled. They've enjoyed the other ballets over the past 4 years. It's fun showing

Father & Son...

...was this past Fri/Sat. Despite not having any sons of our own, Michael attended as a son, (since we are in the same stake as his family.) He explained to the girls that they could shave their heads and he would take them along. WHATEVER!! We are glad he had fun hanging out with the guys. We girls went out to eat, watched a movie, a bit of shopping, and I worked on a few dresses for Kaylee. I suppose I could have planned something a bit more "fun"...like Stacy's dance party she held with Emma...maybe next year...

threes....

Isn't there some saying about how "things" come in threes...good luck or bad luck??? Well, this month: #1 Another ignition coil goes out on our van. #2 I backed into Mike's car, denting it slightly and scuffing up my bumper #3 I forgot my purse in the cart after grocery shopping, it was thus stolen AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Horses

Image
For Ashton's B-day, Allison arranged for the kids to "meet" some horses, feed them some treats and even have a ride!! What a fun way to celebrate Ashton's 3rd birthday!! Thanks for inviting us!! The horse the kids rode on was named Black Beauty, he is 18 hands tall (HUGE)...the kids were in awe as to how big his hooves were. About the size of a salad plate!!

spinning

Pretty self-explanitory...

Fish....

Image
We attended the Kid's Fishing event, and walked away with ZERO fish!! We've never gone & not caught anything! The kids were disappointed, so we went back the following Monday for FHE...and this time, the girls were reeling them in one right after the other!! If you click on the first pic, you'll see that Kaylee is enthralled with how much a worm can stretch. I took Tanner and Mikenna on a little walk to see the "big" fish. Kaylee was not afraid to touch the fish. (FHE night) You can see how excited Mikenna was to catch a fish. She did like playing with the bobbers. (shhhh...don't tell the authorities) Even Melanie had fun reeling in her first fish!!

Weekend in Spokane

Image
While Michael attended another seminar (don't put off the 40 hrs or continuing education hours to the last year!!) the girls and I enjoyed a morning at the Spokane Riverfront Park, and then an afternoon hanging out at a friend's home. You may have seen the video clip of the Red Wagon Slide Mikenna wasn't too sure of her first Merry-Go-Round ride, but seemed to enjoy it the second time around. She kept saying "Whoa!"

Weekend in Seattle

Image
A few weekends ago, we were able to go up with Michael and spend a few days hanging out in Seattle...here are some pics from that weekend... Here we are in the middle of Seattle Center...girls loved the water spraying Butterfly Pavilion... At the Grossology Exhibit ...being "poops"... climbing the "skin wall"... being "boogers"... We also hiked around downtown Seattle, played with cousins, ate yummy food, watched my cousins perform in "From Cumorah's Hill" and...got haircuts!! (See following post)

chop, Chop, CHOP!!

Image
The girls all got their hair chopped this weekend... except for Mikenna...no one wanted to go first, so Mikenna had her first trim. Kaylee had the most cut off...we'll see if we can donate her hair... Kiera (forgot to get an after) had about 7 inches taken off and Kassi had about 5 inches! BTW: although shorter hair is easier to take care of, my girls' calics are VERY apparent after a nights sleep!!

Red Wagon Slide...

Thanks to Tanya & Andy for helping me get this video "fixed" so I can post it...I've got plenty of pics and etc. to post, but for now...check out what happened to this weekend....(somehow we lost the sound--but all that was said was, "Ready Mikenna?"
